Mercer Museum

Being at the Moravian Tile Works allowed me access to the Mercer Museum any time I wanted. I can't even begin to describe how incredible Henry Mercer was. He accomplished enough in his lifetime for at least three lifetimes. On top of starting, running, and designing many hundreds of tiles at the tile works, Mercer was a collector. He collected "tools of life." He constructed a seven story building of cast concrete (after hand mixing all of the concrete for the Tile works and Fonthill, he finally came to the conclusion that a building could still be hand built and use the modern day technology of a cement mixer) to house his collection.
I want to say there's something like 60,000+ artifacts housed in the Mercer. After visiting several times I still can't wrap my head around all of the American history he was able to collect and document. The Mercer is definitely an accurate account of how we lived and progressed.
Here's just a few images that don't even begin to describe how amazing this place truly is.
